Nohemi Chavez is a San Diego native, real estate investor, and construction professional whose career is rooted in lived experience, purpose, and service. She began her real estate journey in 2004, helping foreign nationals relocate and build new lives in San Diego—an experience that shaped her deep belief in housing as a foundation for stability, dignity, and opportunity.
After the 2008 market crash, Nohemi spent five years at a bankruptcy law firm working closely with distressed homeowners. From stopping foreclosures and Trustee Sales to navigating loan modifications and federal lien strip motions, she developed a strong understanding of the distressed seller market. More importantly, she witnessed how deeply housing decisions impact families, legacy, and community—insights that continue to guide her work.
Years later Nohemi returned to real estate full-time, acquiring and renovating severely distressed properties for large local investment firms. With over a decade of hands-on construction experience and hundreds of successful flips, she now owns and operates She Buys Fixers, her own real estate investment company. Actively involved in every phase of acquisition, construction, and design, Nohemi is often found on job sites transforming neglected properties into safe, functional, and beautiful homes across San Diego. Beyond individual projects, Nohemi is passionate about empowering women—particularly Latinas—to build wealth and long-term careers in real estate investing and construction. Through mentorship, education, and real-world guidance, she is committed to demystifying the process and helping women step confidently into ownership and leadership.
She is also the founding Chapter President of the National Hispanic Contractors Association (NHCA) San Diego Chapter, where she supports and advocates for Hispanic contractors by expanding access to education, resources, and industry relationships. As a Latina in construction, Nohemi understands the power of representation. Her work is driven by a desire to open doors, share hard-earned knowledge, and help the next generation build not just homes, but lasting legacies.
